balls balls balls!

Ok now I are frustrated. GRR.

Trying to use the Gimp GAP for creating an animated gif and just cannot figure out how to crop every frame (80 of them!!) to the same size, without doing each one by hand, which just breaks my brain.

I went to Video -> Frames Crop and tried it that way, and it did crop them all, but it cropped them off centre and i can't make it let me specify exactly where to crop each image. Like the X and Y? Wont let me enter anything, it just defaults to 0.

*whine*

edit: I managed it, by using the batch converter to crop them all at once, and the Frame to Image was the key to making an animated gif out of all those frames.
It was tiny on the screen, 65x65, yet it was almost 2mb. How ANYONE ever gets those things under 40k, i'll never know. Probably using some custom written piece of software, i suspect. Ah well. I had fun spending the WHOLE DAY learning how to do it!

When I saw this on my f-list, I thought it was posted on [livejournal.com profile] gimp_users or I would have said something. *facepalm*

There's also [livejournal.com profile] gimp_tutorial but that's specifically for tutorials - you might take a look at it later on, though, depending on what you do in gimp. It's mostly techniques for headers and icons.

I haven't used GAP at all yet. I need to experiment a bit.

I are learning. The hard way. lol
I think the crop function isnt working right, but it looks like the scale one would've done what i wanted. As it was, i unloaded them from the video, loaded them into the bath converter, cropped them all, resized to 100x100, and reloaded them.
Now i'm trying to figure out how to save.

This is what i ♥ about Linux - the intellectual challenge! Maybe i dont like my arse wiped for me, i wanna learn how to do it myself, kwim? :)

Precisely. And the ability to go in and tweak things if they're not the way you like.

I recompiled my kernel last year.
It blew up my pc and had to boot on the failsafe kernel.
I learned my lesson ;)
(i havent recompiled a kernel successfully since slackware was on floppies. lol)

I used to have to do it to get my tv card to work. It was always a pain in the neck. Finally they got it working as a module. :)

I got it working, but it wasnt pretty. I edited my original post to reflect the joy. lol
