My kid's in good hands.
Between this and pregnancy appointments (and moving again on the 4th of July), i'm overwhelmed! I will be so glad for summer, yes i will. Except, it'll mean my baby isnt a baby any more! 18 July is summer break, and 8 Sept is when school is back in... i'm not ready for her to grow up just yet!
The Communication and Autism Team fella from the Specialist Support Service is going to be there at the school step by step of transition to reception. Thank god. They took on board all of our concerns as her parents, and will be doing their best to anticipate problems and cope with them as they happen. Visual time tables, picture guides, photo step by step guides in the toilet, for lunch, etc. They use the Widgit software, so we will be looking into getting our own copy, so we can make our own stuff at home. She's apparently a very visual thinker/learner.
He's going to be doing a lot of the SALT work because he and the SALT have overlapping remit, so they tend to be either/or, instead of both. Which is just as well, Goober's problem isn't an enunciation or speech issue, but a language issue, of communicating - her needs, feelings, emotions, pronoun switching, word finding problems, etc. SALT work, or so we're told. But the fella we met with today will be handling the bulk of it because it would be exactly the same help the SALT would do.
He also disagrees with the Boring Boring font from Handwriting for Windows being used to teach nursery/reception - year 2 children how to write (so they can pass key stage 1, sigh), instead of printing, and seeing as its not proper cursive either... *facepalm*... He will be putting a stop to it for us. Thank god. I've already had my own little rant at the school about it, so i really am relieved to have some professional backup on that issue.
In addition to letting us try that weighted blanket, (which we have purchased one of our own now) he suspects some auditory processing issues as well as the sensory stuff, and will be giving us a 'sensory diet' to do with Goober, make sure she takes in enough sensations of various kinds, or whatever, in order to be happy. We also bought her a weighted lap pad to use at school, hoping it helps her sit still better when she's having a restless day. She's not ADHD, but at times, she sure appears it.

Madness. The end of the week after school's back in, and goobs moves up to reception year (kinder, basically, except she stays 6 hours a day) ...
Lets hope the little one stays put an extra week or something. Yes.

She misses her blanket - we're waiting on ours to arrive. She picked out the colours and everything - http://www.weight2goblankets.co.uk - the princess print. Website's crap, hopefully the blanket will be ok though.
