The registrar was equally as brilliant as the specialist support service guy yesterday.
She listened to us, wanted to know how Goobs is getting on in school, what kind of support she is getting (SpLT, SSS, EdPsych, SENCo involvement) and whether or not OT came through, which it did, for next week i think.
Goobs is still autistic, lol. No change there.
Registrar, with paediatricians permission, prescribed melatonin, 3mg, to be doubled after a week if no change, to combat the sleep issues.
TAKE THAT, whoever turned me in to the man for using melatonin on Goobs last year!
In fact, registrar was shocked and saddened that i had been deterred in such a strong way from using such a useful tool with my child by the complete overreaction of whomever reported me, and the social services themselves, who were prepared to take Goobs from us based on faulty information (melatonin is NOTHING like Ritalin, thanks very much)...
Registrar is going to speed up the SpLT therapy in school by putting in a word, and also going to look for some information on activities for the summer hols, as Goobs will be more demanding, bored, and I will be quite pregnant and tired, and possibly not as inventive as I usually am...
Registrar is very pleased we've done the weighted blanket thing and is going to help the SSS pursue a Bear-Hug thing for us and see if that helps Goobs sit still in school/at home.
Is leaving the auditory processing stuff to the SSS fella, and the sensory issues to both the SSS guy and the OT.
Very good appointment, I thought. Our child is in good hands, and getting the best there is to offer.
:)
