Backstory is indeed a good thing, and you get a chance to get to know the one-off characters as more than just Dalek-fodder...

Whatshername playing Tallulah is about as American as Nicola Bryant though! They need to hire some real Americans (with slightly less OTT accents?) - tell them you guys exist over here!

(the tennessee guy was pretty damn well spot on for what i sounded like before I moved here)
