Oh, i focus on the good points, else i wouldnt be a surprisngly massive fan of a show that had a £2500 budget PER EPISODE!

Effects, scripts, acting, all that is secondary to the story for me, and that's a big part of why New Who is losing its appeal.

And its massive popularity. Which makes me run. Which is why i've never read a HP book or seen but one movie, and avoid most things that other people rave about. I guess i'm a nonconformist in that way? If people start gravitating towards it, i start running, and I dont know why, i just always have done.

Shrug. Its just my opinion.

I'm not attacking your opinion, sorry if it seemed that way. You're entitled to yours, mine just happens to be different.

I hear you on the backstory/family/soap issue though. I don't CARE if Rose has a boyfriend, or if her family thinks she's gone missing, or if Martha's worried about missing her brother's birthday party. If I wanted to watch a TV show about family and angst, I'd put Eastenders on. I want to see aliens, dammit, and other worlds. If I was offered the chance to travle in a TARDIS, I wouldn't think twice about it. I certainly wouldn't be worrying about going home every two minutes.

I read the HP books, because they're pretty good books. Don't care about the fandom as a whole, it bores me. I don't mind discussing things with a couple of friends, but I don't get involved with the mass hysteria over every clue. And I hate the films simply because they don't follow the books at all very well.

I just find myself thinking less and less about new Who, even feeling bored with Old Who (though i enjoyed Robots of Death again the other day, what a fabulous episode), and want to move on to something that has captured my imagination for the time being.

Sometimes i feel flighty and flit from thing to thing, but I'm really feeling the Sapphire and Steel lub lately. Yes.

It didnt seem like you were attacking specifically, but i dont think i expressed myself in other responses very well, so i just wanted to sum up that its just my opinion these days.

*hugs*
