Er... two summers ago I suddenly got an urge to get a tattoo! My sister has a hummingbird on her hip she got a couple of years back and it may have been delayed envy, or just a random whim. I wanted it be somewhere I could see easily but hide in a work environment, so ankle or top of the foot it was. And a gecko was pretty much a random choice. I hung around on bme.zine a lot and looked at pictures/read stories. Geckos are small and cute, and I quite like lizards. So there's no big life-altering reason for the gecko or the foot really!
It fucking killed. Felt like a razor blade cutting into my skin. Feet don't have much meat to dig into so it was just nerves and bone! Despite this I hobbled away happy and unexpectedly went back again the next week for a different colour gecko on the other foot! That one hurt less. Still tempted to get another tattoo. It is an addiction!
I figured that I'll only have one life's worth of use out of this body so it was best to do something like tattoo it while I had the chance! My parents weren't overly impressed.
I guess you and hubby wouldn't be likely to get matching Seals then? ;)

Sorry for the over-large and scary pictures of my feet: First gecko, Second gecko

I've always wanted one but never had the balls. Plus my husband hates them.

I can handle pain; i live in pain every day of my life and I have no problems with needles, no big deal.
But i'd want something what wouldnt warp if i lost 2 stone or gained it, kwim?
Feet sounds like a good place for a tat actually, and a gecko is suitably caribbean/beachy/Jimmy Buffett, i like it :)
