2 black and white moggie kittens, 6 weeks old.

OMG. Pumpkin is so excited, better half is thrilled at having cats again.

We'll be home most of the summer apart from the odd trip out or appointment somewhere, so why not. And they were free to a good home.

The boy is more white than black, and the girl is more black than white. We need names, yes.

If i had my way, it'd be Tegan and Turlough, but alas... ;)

Family friendly suggestions, anyone? AND DONT SAY ROSE.
Mood:: 'bouncy' bouncy

I actually googled "cat names", and there was a massive site with loads of names for every letter of the alphabet. One of our cats is called Domino. Yes it's not very original, but she really is very domino-y and it just fits.

the one I got to name is called Beans (there is a pic of her on my journal). ok, so I got the name from the site, but I think it is a bit different, no? you do get a lot of weird looks when you are calling "beans!" though...

tegan would be a great name for a cat. please call the girl tegan.

alas I don't have any cat icons, so a peacock will have to do.

Hee, Domino is a great name. And it fits the boy, oh yes. He's really black and white, all over! :)

Not sure I can talk the family into Tegan, we'll see :D

I havent got any cat icons YET either ;)

Thanks!

Ooh I HAVE got something to contribute :)

Ana's cat is called Domino and it's the loveliest most friendly cat in the world. So although it's unlikely that it's the name that gives it special powers... it can't hurt...

But what goes with Domino? a deck of cards? Spade? Trumps? hmm.

Lol, i like it!

I'm also thinking Laurel and Hardy, or Fry and Laurie. Maybe :D

We'll spend the day playing with them tomorrow and probably then decide on names.

I had one cat for six weeks before I settled on a name. I believe he had four before I settled on the one he finally ended up with.

I have to be geeky and suggest Ben and Polly. Given that they're black & white and all... :o)

ah hah hahaha love it! :)

Doubt my family are going to go for Who names, though. Heretics that they are...

Be sneaky. Pretend you just pulled them out of your head with no Who influence whatsoever :o)

Well, I named my first hamster after the Manic Street Preachers' drummer, the second after the bass player, the third after David Hasselhoff and my kitten is called Buscemi. The next cat I get will be called Banderas. It's safe to say I have little that is sensible to contribute here :)

Perhaps i ought to go for Warner and Bowie then? lol

lol... why no Tegan and Turlough?

Thankfully my Loki's getting better. He's been running around a lot more, and his breathing's been easier. I realized recently that he's a domestic medium-haired, mostly because he's started shedding, which is gonna kill my allergies probably, lmfao. It was bad enough with Ringo (our shorthaired that died about nine months ago), I have no idea what a cat with more hair shedding is gonna do to me, haha.

Because my family have no idea who they are.

I'm leaning towards Ziggy and Duke, now, personally.

OooO Congrats on the kittens! We have our hands full @ the moment with 5, haha. Cats are so wonderful though.

Good luck with the names. I'd help you out, but I really don't give good cat names, haha.

We've always had cats, but the cat we had when pumpkin was born had a mouse habit, and left cold guts lying in the floor after torturing the thing for hours, so we had to rehome her. Not good.

How sad! How long did you have this cat before giving it a new home? My elderly cat Kibby was always catching mice, but she never ate them. Only played with them after they were dead. She'd give them to us as a gift, haha. Leaving them in her toy box or next to my bed. She stopped though as she pretty much rid the house of them.

Years. But the mouse guts and a newborn baby weren't a risk i wanted to take. The cat used to splatter the walls with mouseblood, ffs!

Ack. That stuff kinda just unsettles me, haha, especially having a pet for so long. No offense to you, cuz with a newborn it makes sense, but since I don't have a child, I can't quite understand *yet* until I have my own kids. I just couldn't see myself doing that to any cat over a length of time, but to each their own, you know? Especially when kids are involved, but again that's just how I am becuz I don't have experience in that direction yet. No offense to you as it was something you had to deal with personally. I'm just quite sensitive.

For me @ the moment I'm dealing with Kibby peeing a lot everywhere, so it's been hard. She's 15 and with so many new cats in the house it's hard for her. I'm hoping she'll break from it if I place a sandbox in the bathroom (Since that's her main location now) or if we move and I have a bigger room for just her. My Mom is frustrated with her and has mentioned getting rid of her, but I know we can't/won't do that becuz of her age and in Kibby's case she was abused as a kitten before we got her, so she wouldn't do well in another place with strangers. She doesn't like anyone but us and only one of my friend's. So that's been a struggle besides young kittens being terrors. lol.

Mouseguts and wild mice in the house = diseases. Let alone what cats pick up from eating mice, like worms.

I didnt want my vulnerable newborn baby exposed to something nasty because the cat wouldn't leave mice alone.

My loyalty lies with my baby, part of my body, that I nurtured and grew for 9 months inside me, and adulthood and common sense dictated to rehome the cat with someone who would love her and wasn't bound by having children to protect from mouseguttery and subsequent disease risks. We made sure the cat went to a good home, don't worry.

Anyway, that was early 2004 when we rehomed Snowdrop, and we've been missing cats for a long time, but pumpkin wasn't old enough to understand how to pet, how to be geltle, why not to smack cats, etc, so we waited til now.

Motherhood is the most powerful thing ever. I'd give my life for pumpkin's. You'll see when you get there :D

My family wait to see the personality of the cat before me name them, usually. So our previous cat was Snoopy, as he kept disappearing into small holes (including the tumble drier); our current house cat is Geronimo (Gerry), as she kept running up the stairs/trees and jumping through the branches/banisters; and our resident stray cat is Obe, as he has no personality so we called him Black One >> Obi-Wan >> Obe.

But if you can't wait, then I agree with Domino, and suggest Spats for the other. I don't think it's too embarrassing calling that off your back step at night, and offhand no unfortunate constrictions spring to mind.

Their personalities are already evident. She is shy, he is outgoing and feisty.

We're entertaining Thunderball and Octopussy? lol

Awww, kittens is *adorable!* Except for their uber-sharp kitten teeth and claws, so watch out for that! My mom's kitten is nearly two years old, now, and mostly black with a white chin, belly and socks. My mom wanted to call him Tux (cuz he looked like he was wearing a tuxedo, natch), but that just made me and my dad think of Tucks brand hemorrhoid pads (weird minds think alike,) so we compromised on Tucker. But we've ended up calling him Tucks for short, anyhow!

I always thought "Oreo" would be a cute name for a black and white cat. We also tossed around "Spats" because of our cat's white feet. Good luck!
