Def Leppard, while looking for more music for my phone because i'm fucking tired of the Beatles and Queen. And i can't believe i ever said that.

Christ almighty Pyromania and Hysteria bring back some memories. Terrific stuff. Never been much of a glam-rocker myself but this music brings up warm fuzzies from my childhood, and sounds terrific to be 20ish years old.

Not going to make any icons, I reserve that pleasure for Bowie and Queen, but still. Good stuff. Really enjoying the memories of poolside sunbathing and splashing and things at Tom Sawyer state park, as a kid/young teen to the tune of this stuff on WLRS-102, the skimpy bikini my mom was pissed about, and whether the boys were noticing me, the taste of Coke and a bag of potato chips, the smell of Sun-in (i didnt use it but my cousin did, a lot) and coconut suntan cream...

edit: Rocket has GREAT LYRICS. Mentions Bowie more than once. That is all.

OMG!!! I remember Sun-in!! I never used it, as my hair was already pretty light during the summer months anyway, but I had friends who did.

Wow. I feel so flippin' old. It's times like this when I try not to think about the fact that my nephew is 9.

*weeps for lost youth*

I never used the sun-in, because i have a record to maintain of never ever dying or bleaching my hair ever in my life. I will go grey with dignity, oh yes. While at the mo if i find a grey, i pull the fucker out by the root ;)

But oh yes, i've dated myself. I'm old, i confess. I do miss those days of innocence, of not having to worry about bills or money or health, or worrying for anyone else's life or health, of just living and enjoying the fuck out of it.

Ah, youth.

Def Leppard went to my school! My PSE teacher knew the drummer when he had two arms.

/my claim to fame.

In Sheffield? Bloody hell, its a small world.

Yeah that kid joined up when he was just 15, i read earlier, and then lost his arm about 6 or 7 years later.. Poor fella.

I was just reading the wiki on Kentucky. God i miss home sometimes.

On the outskirts really, but yep, it is near sheffield enough :)

a bit inspirational though - I mean to lose your arm but carry on pretty much regardless? who'da thought it, a successful drummer with only one arm! Yay for him!

We went to Swtizerland on holiday, and whilst it was only for 2 weeks, I started to miss home really badly, even though it was only a few hours away. So I shall pat you and hope you don't feel so bad soon. *hugs* How long have you lived in England for?

I made another reply on this post about wiki articles i encountered. That pretty much tells you where I'm from :D

Shit, man. The MEMORIES. THEY HURT.

Okay, was reading the wiki entry on Kentucky. A place i am so incredibly proud to have grown up in.

Saw this: about my high school. I still have my ring, btw! :D
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DuPont_Manual_Magnet_High_School

Then saw this, which i heard about a lot. Happened 2 years before I was born. Louisville was still reconstructing when i was born.

And then i saw this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrollton_bus_disaster

I remember crying for those poor kids. I met a survivor at White Mills church camp one year ( i went every year from about 11 til i was 18). http://www.whitemillschristiancamp.com/

She was too ashamed of her gauze-printed skin from the horrible burns to go swimming, but by the end of our week at camp, she was swimming with the rest of us. I think her name was Karen.

Every time i visit America, i fly in to Cincy, and drive down 71, right past that sign. And to think, i spent a lot of my life, as did a gazillion other kids, on the same model school bus, and could've been killed at any time had someone hit is. Scary shit.

Fuckin hell, man. I think i'll go watch some Bottom and forget tornadoes and bus fires. Yikes.

WOAH. I remember they found a bomb in our school playground once, but it turned out it was just a shell and nobody got hurt.

But that actually doesn't compare.

ouch, your memories hurt. :(
