Better half has high functioning autism as well.

Learning disorders psychiatrist diagnosed him just now.

Wow. Well that explains a lot.

I'm glad it's finally official anyway.

How will this affect things with his work?

I suppose having the official diagnosis can only help matters.

Fuck them indeed! :)

You betcha - he (well, i, in his stead) started pursuing it 2.5 years ago. I'm his (unpaid) PA, you know? :)

And an excellent job you've done too! He's a very lucky fellow! :)

Thank you sweetie :) I work hard for the people i love, and it feels nice to have someone notice it - even if he isn't really capable of it. lol

*hugs* to you, babe.

I'm sure he notices and appreciates it. He maybe just has trouble expressing it.

That is 100% true, and the very heart of the issue.

I ♥ that icon. I must find a hug pic somewhere and icon it. Two bunnies or puppies or something. Later.

Not really something to go 'woo!' about, but woo for having a diagnosis, at least? Hope it eases the work stuff a bit, anyway.

*hugs*

It is as much *woo* as pumpkin's dx was - it reassures us/me/him that we are not imagining things, and it helps me cope by knowing that the things he does are not set out intentionally to hurt. It makes life so much easier that way...

and work have so much crow to eat. omg. Disability Discrimination Act anyone? no wonder they're sweating bullets, now they'll be sweating enture armouries. lol

*hugs* thank you for the support, babe.

Boo he has it. But yay it's been diagnosed! I'm glad things are working in your favour now, after the critical points scant weeks ago.

Oh honey, you just don't know how relieved i am. It did hit rock bottom a few weeks back, omg.

And i'm sure he is relieved as well. Work hasn't got a leg to stand on.

I must head to church on Sunday, and say thank you.

Well! That's a load off your shoulders, isn't it? It's too bad it had to take 30+ years to finally get an answer for him, but better late than never, I suppose! Your perseverance has paid off! Here's hoping the work troubles are behind you both, now.

On another note, how's it feel being the only NT in the house? :p

It sure is. Better late than never - he's 34 now, but it's still good to know why.

I think its a little bizarre, but i'm actually so used to these two, i wouldn't know how to have a 'normal' husband or child! Wouldn't know what to do with either one!

Thank you, hon.

At least now you know. *hugs*

We're currently waiting to hear back about my oldest nephew. We don't know if it's some form of autism or Tourette's or what... I should really call the SIL.

Better half has been posing as a 'normal' for 34 years, but he isnt... its shocking how easy a diagnosis it was - we both diagnosed him 2.5 years ago, it just took this long to wait to get to see a qualified shrink to agree with him.

Time to call the SIL, yes.

That's kind of ridiculous, y'know? Of course, you know. *thunk*

I need to call her anyway about Christmas plans and such. Perhaps this weekend I'll have a few minutes free.

Well the normal waiting time is 8 weeks but just when he got the referral done back in 2005, the specialist he was to see, who is the one he saw this morning, was moving offices and changed jobs, and he got lost in the shuffle. I wanted to chase it up but then i ended up ill with mono/glandular fever in Sept05 and was too ill/tired to keep up with it, and then it was sort of forgotten about for a while until pumpkin started displaying big symptoms, and then we decided to pursue it officially after pumpkin was diagnosed and on track, and then it just worked out this way.

holy run-on sentence batman!

good luck with the SIL, babes.
