Torchwood. Meat. Great ep, though i have quibbles with some points.

Rhys was amazing. Loved him.
Is Jack jealous of Gwen now? Seems to be.
Ianto was good as a full fledged member of the team.
Tosh was pathetic, pining after Owen - and i liked her last week! ARGH.
Owen the vet, and euthaniser. I'm so sorry.
Is Jack telepathic now too? Gosh, is there no end to the things he can do?
Gwen was predictable, running after Rhys. Yawn there.
Jack is different than the Jack who interrogated Beth with suck hostility, imho. Very inconsistent writing, and with Tosh, too.

On the other hand.. Ooh. Gray. Jack's little brother. Let go of his hand.

Can't wait to see more Rhys and Gray in future. Yay.

edit: I have Rhys icon! YES.
Mood:: 'confused' confused

I thought the story was secondary, and the relationships within the ep were the main focus (much like how the first new Doctor Who ep, Rose, had something that was kind of easily defeated, so there could be more focus on something else). Does what I've just said make any sense? :S

Rhys was cool. But I really didn't like the Jack/Gwen in it. It's true I am a Jack/Ianto fangirl, but even without that, I just can't see Jack/Gwen. I must admit though, that I loved all the little looks and quirps about Jack/Ianto in this ep.

Ianto was awesome by himself actually, he's really becoming a true part of the team this series.

is it clear I don't know where I'm going with this?

overall: story just decent, but liked it anyway. :)

i agree. I liked the ep a lot. Rhys was so amazing and good on gwen for not retconning him. Thought owen did a brave and humane thing by euthanising it. I just had quibbles, minor ones. That's all.

I think it will definitely grow on me, and I'm seeing parallels with Utopia which I adored, if purely for the pretty.

Rhys was a lot more awesome than I thought he'd be, although I actually wasn't sure what Gwen would do. Owen is getting better all the time, but I do miss his snark. Ianto won in general. XD
yep, me too - minor quibbles.

also gwen has the same phone as me - n95. except i customised mine. Who leaves the defaults on? Active standby alone eats the battery life!

If I had a mobile, I'd probably leave the defaults on. But I don't even have one! How lame am I? LOL

No mobile? Good gawd. How do you survive?

As a mom with toddler and a bun in the oven, i feel protected always have a handy source of medical info, 999 calls, NHS direct, whatever, in my pocket ready to dial.

If I had a toddler and was pregnant I'd certainly have a mobile, or if I had a car in case of breakdowns and stuff. But I have neither kids nor cars.

I dunno, I just don't like phones very much.

I appreciate the usefulness and necessity of having one in the house, but I'll be damned if I'll cary one around with me! I'm horrified at the thought of people phoning me when I'm walking around lost in my little dreamworlds, or having dinner in a restaurant or something. Such an intrusion! I'd basically have it turned off all the time, so there would really be no point in having it.

Also being a foreigner and a woman, i feel safer with a phone on me - might need 999, you never know.

Hehe, dreamworlds? Are you off in la la land quite often then? :)

If you ever feel unsafe, let me know and I'll immediately come to your rescue!

Are you off in la la land quite often then?

Very much so. I'm a scatterbrained daydreaming fool! LOL

Yeah, I like Rhys too and he got a raw deal last series. I hope we see more of him this time, but of course it'll all end in tears...

I don't like this business of Jack suddenly pining after Gwen. I think RTD is trying to make her like the Rose of Torchwood or something. And yet, at the same time, Jack and Ianto are constantly locking tongues ate every opportunity! Make your bloody mind up Jack!

And I agree about Tosh as well. I hope she was just feeling a bit reboundy because of last week and will see sense soon and realise that she can do a LOT better than that little turd Owen! But the agenda this series seems to be to pair the whole team off with each other, so I think it's inevitable that they'll end up together. Even though Owen seems to have no interest in her. The fool!

But still, it was an OK episode. That's three in a row! Miraculous!

Yes, it was! Rewatching right now, puking is rendering me unable to do much else :/ Aaah, the joys of motherhood.

I've had enough of St Rose, tyvm Rusty. I dont think we need a St Gwen too. ARGH. Jack doesn't *need* Gwen, why is he all sulky over her ?? I just don't 'see' a ship there, i see the imagination of some prat writers, that's all.

Argh. But a damn good episode, yes. I just had quibbles with it, that's all.

Arg, are you still puking? Better than the horrible mega-puking you were doing before, I hope? *hugs*

Yes, this silly Jack/Gwen thing feels very much like something that's being imposed on the writers by RTD. He must have sent out a memo saying "There wasn't enough sexual tension last series! I want more sexual tension! Between EVERYONE!"

I really hope it goes nowhere and Gwen stays with Rhys. It may be boring from a dramatic perspective, but it would make her a more likeable character.

Yeah once maybe per day, nothing too serious. Meh.

yeah, exactly. And we don't need no more of that silliness. I agree, she'd be better off with Rhys, not dipping into Owen's bed and then Jack's bed, etc. *headdesk*

If you can't relate to the characters, then what fun are they? And i can't relate to anyone bed hopping like that, its cheap and whorish and awful.

Indeed. I really liked her at the start of the first series but as soon as she cheated on Rhys, I kind of lost interest in her as a character. Maybe if he'd been mistreating her or something, but he wasn't. And if you don't like of care about the characters in a show like this then it gets boring very quickly.

Shows are, largely, today, character and relationship-driven.

Speaking of which, i can't WAIT for Ashes to Ashes tonight. Wheee!

Hmmmm. I'm not sure about that to be honest. Life on Mars was great but it had such a clear ending to it, I'm dubious about how this spin-off will work. I just hope they can maintain the same quality.

We're going out to see Cloverfield tonight, but will be setting the vid.

Anyhoo, El fancies Gene Hunt so even if the show is guff, we'll be watching it each week! LOL

Gene Hunt is a dinosaur, but he's a lot of fun, too. :)
