in case anyone is specifically not watching
doctorwho because of specific posters there who annoy people and really ought to get the boot but i just ignore them...
Dead Ringers' Torchwood spoof on Youtube, parts
one and
two.
Apparently John Barrowman is the big 4-0 today. Happy birthday, John.

there are only three things i like about Torchwood
1. Toshiko(after Gwen went nuts, she seems the only halfway sane and likable Torchwood member)
2.Suzie Costello(let her come back at least once more)
3.Bilis Manger(creepy,creepy villain.he should return again)

I somehow dont find myself bouncing off walls in anticipation of series three, no. In fact, i am gobsmacked how blase i feel about it, to be honest.
I'm just so disappointed after what they did with Rose, that i dont think this Martha person can ever be a 'proper' companion in my mind, and with all the lovey dovey crap they keep churning out to keep the audience figures high, i'm feeling betrayed and angry at RTD, yes.
Sigh. Sorry to soapbox at you.

I want it to be like Who used to be.
And i cant see them going back to that, not after what they did with Rose, so i just cant find myself enjoying the show much any more. Hell, i like torchwood's gratuitous sex better than I like Rose's weeping every other flipping episode and talking about mortgages and tying him down and how they're inseparable and it taking an alternative universe to break them apart, etc. His entire planet only got one tear, Rose got two?
Nope. Call me a Rose-hater, and a Rusty hater, because i hate what they did to my favourite tv show. Thank god for Big Finish to keep Fivey's era going, and Unbound to give me alterative Doctors that i like. I've have given up on it altogether if it weren't for Big Finish.

I'm also a sucker for romance, so all the lovey-dovey stuff in the first and second season of the new series worked pretty well on me. There were some things that were just too much for me to not scoff at, but most of the time I fell for it all haha.
I liked Rose well enough, but she was so obviously still a teenager. I really wish the show could be more geared toward an adult audience as well, but that's not gonna happen any time soon, with a good portion of the fanbase for the new series being little kiddies. I hope that, since they're bringing in a more adult companion this time, things will be a little different.

I was 20 when the movie came out in 96, and i watched it then, felt offended and disgusted at the snogging to a fireworks background. The movie was rubbish. I did keep up with 8Doc PDAs for a while, til i read Banquo Legacy, and i never picked up another 8th Doc adventure again. I decided to stick with what i knew, Five (and Four to some extent).
I've grown to like Tom Baker's era, grown to like some Pertwee's era, love Five's era. The rest is not my style.
When the new series came out, i watched every episode as it aired in the new series as I was in this country now, and getting to watch it on tv. My baby girl watched it with me at the time. But to be honest, after he regenerated, i lost a lot of interest. After he kissed her and regenerated, i really started to lose interest. Before then, Rose used to question the Doctor. After they kissed / he regenerated, all she was was a teenager with a massive crush on a person who couldnt possibly love her back (not with any sane reckoning, if so, then he loved Turlough and Adric and Leela and all of them!!), and that's NOT what i want to watch on tv.
I dont want to watch the life and times of Jackie Tyler, or The Tyler Family Saga on tv. If i wanted that, I'd watch Corrie or Eastenders.
I'm watching for the Time Lord, not for his companions. Not for romance. Not for hand holding or kissing.
So, if they go there with Martha, I will quit the new show. I want scifi, not romance. There's plenty of romance elsewhere, and the distinct lack of romance / not understanding human emotion is what made him a different kind of tv hero. Once they dull the lines and make him 'love' someone, they've ruined what made him different, and they'll lose my support, that's for certain.
I feel very strongly about it, having watched the old show for 17 years, long before the new show came out. I know new tv audience, new generation, have to cater to a new audience demographic and all that, but i dont think they're being true to the old series, and if they're not going to do that, then they need to change the name of the show. Because as it is, series 2 most certainly ISNT 'Doctor Who' as I knew it and loved it, and I suspect series 3 wont be either.
