I've been thinking today. Generally watching some eps for enjoyment, some for fic reasons.

I wonder if the PTSD in Five from letting Adric die, and all the death he saw in season 21 might be what made him into the man he became, when he choose to live, and regenerate, into Six?

I see a lot of PTSD in Five, the same way i see it in Nine, but only towards the end. The joking and light manner in both Five and Nine are there to cover up the pain, and hatred of himself and his lifestyle(s), the choices he's had to make, and the consequences of them...

I need TimeFlight. Now.

I so smell fic. Or is that tea burning? Ack!

I've always held the belief (as does the fandom) that the reason the Sixth is so "unstable" is because of the spectrox toxemia. Although your explanation is generally accepted by fans as well.

I think it must be a little of both really. I mean, Adric's the only one he let down to the point of death, and being that ill before regenerating must've affected him in a negative way.

I think both of those things must've made Six into the 'hard man' that he is.

But the more i watch post-Earthshock eps, the more PTSD I see... he really goes feel guilty, badly guilty. He is staggering around in shock from it all, and he really doesnt know how to come to terms with it or deal with it, particularly in light of Nyssa staying behind on Terminus, Tegan utterly abandoning him, and Turlough finding his place as well.

Five must feel very utterly alone by time Androzani rolls around :(
