So. Cuddlesome. What an adorable little brief companion-less story.

Five works so well with people he just meets up with.

Enjoyed it as much if not more than companion-full stories!

PD, you are cuddlesome. Yes.

Well that turned out pretty good, after a dull and slightly predictable start.

And the last line, uttered by Peri, is a good one. I won't spoil it, just *listen* and you'll laugh out loud, as I did.

cotton socks, my dear.  *mwah*
You're the *best* thing to ever happen to Big Finish. :)

The Mind's Eye, BF102.
*guh* - the VISUALS! omg. Really hit a fangirl's squee button, you know?

Only 3 parts, and I haven't gotten round to the Viyrans yet. Well paced, well acted. Parts that would've been cliched weren't, and the whole thing was so utterly believable, i was lost inside it. Without a doubt, the closest thing to Classic Who i've heard in yonks.

Killer plants on an alien planet, etc, been done before. Killer animals that hunt at night, terrorising an outpost, been done before. But never like this; totally unexpected plotline and twists, the third part was quite emotional, and neither Peri nor Erimem were annoying.

Nick Briggs, i say again, you're the best thing to happen to Big Finish. I will rest soundly knowing that Fivey's destiny is safe in your hands. Even if he gets a bit abused on the way ;)

(one day i'll get into the other Doctors, probably starting with Eight, and definitely pump my dear F-list for recs. For now, I'm a Five girl, always have been and always will be)

Son of the Dragon - Big Finish 99.

Holy wow. Guh. Dracula himself. Wowzers.

Peter sounds so... sarcastic, weathered, serious, weary (like he was in Caves), forceful, regretful - perfect portrayal of Audio!Five. Who is subtly, and powerfully different than TV!Five.

Erimem and Peri were actually entertaining, rather than fucking annoying as I often find them, though i can *still* hear the errors in Nicola's accent. She was well used in this one, though Caroline Morris's Erimem was sidelined, Peri positively *glittered*. I'm gobsmacked, considering I don't much care for Peri...

Gothic music, chilling storyline, spot on characterisations, just, wow. This was on par with Spare Parts, in the shivers-down-my-spine bloody good audio department.

Well done, Big Finish.

Well i'm gobsmacked. It was superb. It didn't outdo Cruel Immortality, but it's in line as my second favourite ever.

I did have to listen to it twice to 'get' it, but i blame that on my current state of brain chemistry, yes. The mystery at the end with Gold's fate, i cant WAIT to see how that ends up being revealed in the future. yes.

Well done, Big Finish.

David Warner, i love you, again.

edited: Simon sez (ha ha) that his rather uncryptic blog entry has nowt to do with the BF writing comp, but something else. I dont believe him.

If you havent heard it. GET IT.

It helps to know what happened to Ruby in Water Like a Stone, but it stands on its own, and an un-fucking-believeable S&S audio, in fact, the best one to date, I'd say.

I was listening to it again today, doing some homework on the Transients, etc, and was utterly blown away by the standard of acting, the storyline, everything.

Nigel Fairs, you're a genius.

David Warner, I love you all over again. :)

I think i'm leaning away from Doctor Who.

Cut for the ravings of a madwoman... )

Ok rant over. Hence my new default icon. Made from the old Sapph and Steel opening screencap, which i took, and the S&S banner at BF site, snipped and put together. :D

Renaissance of the Daleks from Big Finish was pretty good.

Even had the Doc being electrocuted by a toy Dalek as he attempted to pull it off the console. Very brave of him. Sounded fun too :D

Also very in character, i thought. I perhaps need to alter some dialogue of Tempus Fugit to be a little more 'Doctory'... Lots of 'Hmm's and stuttering as he pulls everything out of his arse, makes it up as he goes along, and yet manages to save the universe in time for tea.

I recommend it. Not as good as Spare Parts or Circular Time, or even Sympathy for the Devil, but very good indeed. Worth a listen at least once, anyway.

The new Big Finish audios series Sapphire and Steel is what i've been listening to as I walk, lately, having finished Nebulous and all of Rigor Mortis a long time ago. And Circular Time (i love Summer, i love hearing it over and over).

I'm impressed. It was a bit rocky at first but David Warner and Suzannah Harker soon settled in, and i REALLY enjoy the time related stories, which really proves to me that I mainly like Doctor Who because of the time travel, same reason I like the Back to The Future movies. And because I really like Peter Davison, as well as David Warner.

So, Sapphire and Steel. Very interesting premise, and I'd heartily recommend getting episode one, The Passenger, and then getting a few of the later ones in series 1, and Water Like a Stone from season 2. They're really quite good.

I wasnt really a fan of the original tv series, and I suspect that HELPS, not detracts, from enjoying the audios - no preconceived notions, no 'hang on a minute, that's not Steel at ALL' feelings, etc.

Good stuff, all around. I recommend, yes.
